Electrical Connection
Figure 1: AC side switching
- The brake is switched independent from the motor voltage, engagement delay time t11~
- Suitable for operation with frequency inverter
Figure 2: DC side switching
- The switching of the brake on AC and DC side leads to faster engagement delay times t11=.
Figure 3: Brake ready for connection
- Voltage supply from motor terminal board.
- The brake is switched together with the motor voltage, engagement delay time t11~
- In comparison to Figure 1 the connection to the brake is made within the motor terminal box
- Not suitable for frequency inverter operation and for pole changing motors
Inspection and maintenance
air gap control periodical, adjust if air gap met value Xn
Adjust air gap
- disconnect the brake from load to avoid uncontrolled rotation
- release cylindrical screws (4)
- Adjust air gap by turning the adjusting screws (5)
Pay attention to symmetrical adjustment - tighten cylindrical screws (4)
- control air gap again, repeat process if necessary
the adjustment can be repeated until the brake lining thickness is gmin. Then the lining (6) has to be changed - Manual brake release: Check dimension m with attracted armature, adjust if necessary
Change brake torque
- disconnect the brake from load to avoid uncontrolled rotation
- release cylindrical screws (4), dismantle adjusting screws (5) and armature disk (7)
- Change or remove springs according to table
Attention! Arrange springs always symmetric. - Assembly in opposite sequence
- Adjust air gap and hand release
The given torques are index values.
